Zackery was born December 27, 1999 in Regina, SK (Canada)
Within the first week of his life, I received the phone call that his newborn screening test had come back positive for PKU.
We relocated to Saskatoon, SK (where the only PKU clinic is in SK) shortly afterwards to be closer to the doctor and dietician. I then devoted my time to learning all I could about PKU and how I could make his life that much better.
Currently we reside in Edmonton, AB and I must say that we have it pretty good here in regards to clinics and coverage. The dietician and doctor are top notch in my book!
Zackery is now the big brother to Ava, born November 2007. She does not have PKU and so far Zack has accepted that. He is a wonderful big brother, always protective and doting...I do see that changing once she begins getting around on her own and into his "stuff".
